End Of The Year Pep Talk

Expectations can help with reaching goals in a weird way. During the pandemic a lot of creators became well known brands and used a trying time to their benefit. This election for many people has been a big let down, but I see it as more of a benefit to achieving personal goals. I give you permission to start that Etsy or to embark on any brave endeavor. During the thick of covid there was a shake up with energy and putting a fire under people’s butts. How can your anxious energy be channeled into achieving your dreams?….

What are your resources….

Most people who start businesses are smart to notice what is already available to them. You might be living in a particular city that does xyz. You have to think in the present moment what is available to you. Your city might be great for food pop ups and you are a master at tacos. Think about who you already know and what you can tap into.

You phone can do more thing than you think….

Any smart phone owner barely uses all the functions of their device. There are also apps that can be extremly helpful. I love the app “photo room” which can erase backgrounds for photos for selling items through Ebay or Poshmark. You don’t have to have an elborate studio space to take photos. I shoot pretty much everything with my i phone and use the basic setting to make things look professional.

Network….

Connect with groups and meet ups to expand your network. Having those contacts can introduce you to the right people or find a potenical business partner.

Learn more hard and soft skills….

There are affordable courses you can take to give you more skills for your LinkedIN profile. It can give you a sense of credibility to just yourself to take the next step. I like sites like Udemy to test out your interest level. You don’t have to fork over an enormous amount of money to see if a certain goal is a fit for you.

Just because everyone has done it doesn’t mean there isn’t room for you….

Most will hear push back from family or friends that the market is too saturated for you to enter. You can always use the data to know what is working for a certain industry and recognize your unique take on it.

Listen to motivating podcasts….

It takes motivation and a touch of delulu to start something. It is great to hear success stories and hear tips on how they accomplished it.

Take baby steps…

The thought of jumping from a 9-5 job to a thriving businesses is daunting. You are allowed to take tiny leaps and not sell all your things and move to Europe. When creating a to do list achievable micro steps that you can check off.

Bottom Line….

Whatever you perceive as “bad news” can motivate you to change your personal way of life. The most important thing when starting anything is to tap into what lights you up and what resources are available to you. Let your gut lead the way to help guide what is the best fit for you
